From time-to-time we can show you actual case histories of asset recovery. We can't show you every case as it may affect on-going court cases - but here's a few we can share...

1) Mr A used to park his bike on the road outside his house.  He used it every day for work so somehow it never seemed to be garaged (we’ve all been there!).  Walking out of the house one morning he saw any empty space where the bike should be...His Acutrac web panel quickly located the bike 3 miles away parked in a side-street. So with his keys in the pocket of his riding gear, his wife drove him there and he rode his bike safely back home. He keeps it locked securely in the Garage now!Mr A’s case is a remarkably common theft and recovery scenario.  Thieves will often leave a stolen vehicle parked in a side street or pub car park for a day or two to see if anyone comes for it. If no-one appears, the assumption is made that there isn't a tracking device fitted to the vehicle and it then gets spirited away permanently.  Mind, it didn’t work quite like that in the case of Mr J and Mr C!

2) Mr J was glad he had a Locator PLUS fitted to his R6 when his bike was stolen during the night.  His Locator PLUS had sent a movement alert at 3am, which he saw on his mobile phone when he woke up.

Looking on his smart phone, he pin-pointed the bike in a garage some 500 yards away from his house.  Unusually the Police were slow to react and at 3pm the bike was moved to a row of storage containers in NW London.  Acutrac worked with the police and advised them of the new location - a warrant was obtained and a search conducted.

Mr J's bike was recovered (in fact it sent an alert to Mr J and the Acutrac team when the police moved it) along with 8 other stolen motorcycles.

Arrests have been made. Click here to see a satellite shot of the container park.

3) Mr C used to keep his Yamaha R1 with Acutrac Premier fitted on his front garden in South-West London.  Waking up one morning he found the bike was missing. Unusually, the web panel couldn't find a GPS position for the bike so Mr C called us for assistance…

We could get a GSM (mobile phone) position which showed the bike in Rotherhithe in E London but the positional accuracy was only good to a 900 metre radius. Two members of staff went to the area to try and find the R1 using RFID equipment which proved quite difficult. Whilst they were in the area, the bike moved again, this time to Ilford.

With Acutrac staff in pursuit’ a GPS position finally confirmed the bike had stopped moving and was hidden in a row of lock-up garages in a service road The police were informed and they, together with the customer, were there at 7am the next morning to re-unite bike and owner. Another 2 stolen motorcycles were also recovered.

4) Mr T originally purchased his Locator PLUS for his BMW so that his parents could follow him on a touring holiday through Spain and Morocco.  Although Mr T hadn't used the Locator PLUS for over a year when he returned from his touring holiday, it worked brilliantly when he found his bike was missing one morning…

Shortly after it was reported missing the Beemer was located to one of two garages in NE London.   Acutrac staff worked with the police and by 10.30 in the morning, just 3 hours later, the Police raided the garages and found the missing motorcycle together with 3 others.  An arrest was made and after the legal process, a man was sent to prison for 2 years.
